Skin Tips for Santa Claus by Peter Dziedzic

Next week Santa will be making his annual trip to give presents to all the good boys and girls all around the world. This makes me think of two things. One, I hope I am on his nice list so I do not get a lump of coal come Christmas morning. Two, I am really worried about Santa’s skin.

First, he lives at the North Pole. That means that during the summer months, he is exposed to a lot of sunlight and UV rays. I sincerely hope that he uses a daily SPF that he reapplies in regular intervals to help protect against the damage that those UV rays can cause. Those rays can break down collagen, causing the loss of the skin’s elasticity and wrinkles (and we know that Santa isn’t exactly a spring chicken). Or even worse, UV exposure is associated with an increased occurrence of skin cancer.

Second, let’s talk about Santa’s rosy cheeks. Excessive redness in the skin can have many causes (excessive sun exposure, wind, cold, heat, etc.), but it could also be caused by rosacea. Santa needs to get checked out by a dermatologist to determine whether he does in fact suffer from rosacea (like some 16 million Americans). If so, he can determine what triggers his rosacea outbreaks and work to avoid them.

Third, all those cookies with milk on his Christmas rounds sound delicious, but studies have shown a link between consumption of dairy (milk specifically) and breakouts. The milk triggers a hormonal reaction which causes the skin to produce excess sebum. That sebum in turn clogs the pores in your skin leading to a breakout.

After thinking about it, this year rather than putting out cookies and milk for Santa (let’s be honest, he probably has enough from his other stops), I am going to leave the big guy a gift card for a skoah facial. Then one of our Skin Care Trainers can have a heart to heart about his skin care routine and address some of the above issues. Plus, I am sure after he is done with his busy season, he could use the pampering and relaxation.

What People Say About Caudalie Radiance Serum?
I got a sample of this at Sephora to help with some acne scarring and when I first started using it, I noticed it gave my skin a nice glow. I ended up buying the full-size here when I had a discount code and since have been using it for 2 weeks now. My skin still has a subtle glow to it but I am not sure about fading dark spots yet until I use it more

I am on my second bottle. I stopped using it for a few months because it is expensive, but after discontinuing it and then using it again I realize the cost is worth it. Just after one use the blemishes are diminished overnight. I am on day two and didn't have to wear any foundation today and my skin looked great. I have always wondered about products and if they really worked because the results are usually subtle, take time or non-existent. This product is amazing and to see overnight results is simply shocking. I see a huge difference and other people have too. It may not work for everyone but for me this products is the best ever. It is also gluten and cruelty free-doesn't get much better than that!!
